Publisher's description of Maxthon (Classic)

Maxthon (formerly MyIE2) is a multipage browser based on the Internet Explorer core (IE 5 or 6 required). It can open multiple Web pages in just one window, and it takes only a few system resources when you're surfing with the integrated user interface. The application supports special plug-ins and IE extensions, and its features include autoscrolling, form autofilling, external tools, plug-in support, a newsgroup-browsing mode, mouse gestures, customizable skins, and an Autohide panel.

Version 1.6.3 build 80 is a bug fixing release.

A browser based on the Internet Explorer engine, Maxthon takes the best elements of IE and marries them to more advanced features, such as tabbed browsing and customizable skins. Some of our favorite features include the ability to set up bookmark groups, such as news or blog sites, that open on start-up; the ability to autoscroll Web pages without the mouse; and pop-up and content filters for blocking ads and specific content formats you don't want.

We also like the super drag-and-drop feature, which lets you directly select and drag keywords to a current Web page or directly to the address bar. Maxthon is fast, small, flexible, and easy to use, and the extra features make it a browser we highly recommend.

  Pros: Not very good. Crashes often

  Cons: Ace Explorer is much better.

  Highly underrated browser

  Pros: Takes the best parts of IE (compatability with all web pages), and is very customizable like firefox, but is so much more intuitive and easier to learn. I like how its tabs work better than all of the other browsers.

  Cons: It is still run off the IE engine so even with its improved security you are still on the most targeted type of browser, but that is a small concern if you are careful and keep up with anti-virus and anti-spyware.
