- "Convert for free"
Lightweight and effective, this program is a great way to convert video files from Flash formats into something useful beyond Web pages. Specializing in formats meant for portable devices, Free FLV Converter also supports AVI and can download embedded SWF or FLV vids directly from the Internet when you punch in the URL.
The app can also perform local searches for vids as well as convert to FLV. Hitting either conversion tab will automatically open a file browser so you can choose your victim. From there, a conversion window opens up, and you can change the basics such as settings, including output format, quality, and destination directory, as well as more advanced options like the codec, aspect ratio, and the frame rate. Tap convert at the bottom of the window when you're ready, and the Free FLV Converter works smoothly and without interfering with other programs.
Free FLV Converter does have one annoyance: When you install it, be sure to opt out of the Dealio toolbar. It's no more than a minor drawback, though, and doesn't cause problems later on. Seeing as how the app ran smoothly in the background, it's definitely a must-use piece of freeware.

"Worthless! Audio & Video doesn't sync when converting."
Pros: Okay Viewer
Cons: The audio does not sync with the video when using the conversion tool.
Tried to convert a FLV file to AVI and was very disappointed after waiting 1hr 20min for 17min file to convert to find it's not in sync. Totally useless! Waste of time!Summary: A good idea that still has lots of bugs that need worked out.

"This program is full of spyware. It should be avoided!"
Pros: Nothing....spyware.
Cons: It worked fine ONCE and then tried to hijack my browser and toolbar. It was a hassle to remove as it sent me to sites to confirm that I really didn't want their software.
Summary: Shouldn't be on download.com. I thought these things were tested. The version on download.com may have been but it installs and update the second you install the clean version. SPAM!

"Good Program, but not Freeware!!"
Pros: Program works well. Converts exactally what I wanted...
Cons: Not freeware without limitations!! For example it will not convert flv to mp3 if you dont purchase the program for 21$...
Summary: Good Program, but not really worth it for me...

"DO NOT DOWNLOAD! Waste of time crapware!!"
Pros: At first it looked good and after reading the Editor's notes I installed. It looks promising with tons of videos at your download mercy.
Cons: I opted out the toolbar options and it still loaded it's "spy files" on my system but Spybot caught it. I too had to instantly upgrade but not a big deal. What was a big deal is the non working down loader and spy ware that was bundled.
Summary: Looks promising but major bugs and spy ware has sunk this ship before it left the dock!

Version: Free FLV Converter 5.81
Pros: can convert some videos, can download some videos from sites like youtube.
Cons: cannot convert some other formats, you'll have to identify codecs but in the end some videos just wont convert, limited format conversions, plus malware.
Summary: not worh downloading, there are better freeware with more formats and no codec bshit and no malware.
