Xplorer2 Lite is a free version of xplorer2, a tabbed dual-pane windows explorer replacement with integrated quick previewer. Compared to the professional version it lacks customizability and the search command. Version 1.7.1.4 includes Vista symbolic links, improved Web folder and virtual folder performance, and includes optional search toolbar for Internet browsers.

- "Power up your file tree"
This slimmed-down file manager trumps Windows Explorer on many counts, but it may have too much flexibility for some users.
Xplorer2 Lite's interface is easily adapted to your preferences. Toolbars and information windows can be moved on a whim. You can browse two or more folders in one window, using program tabs and different panes. What's more, you can customize search windows and save the settings for later use. Visual filters improve crowded directory readability. You can easily rename multiple files at once, split or merge files, synchronize folders, and shred data to prevent recovery. However, we are disappointed that the Check Duplicates and Compare Subfolders functions are disabled.
An enhanced DOS command line allows you to create scripts to process file batches, a nice touch for more advanced users. The online help is detailed, tool tips are mini manuals, and the Tip of the Day feature gives even more helpful information. All in all, this program makes the learning curve gentle. Almost everyone will find this file manager a great improvement over their current tool. Xplorer2 Lite will even make novices feel like power users.

"Windows' integrated explorer is no longer needed"
Pros: I no longer use windows explorer after I started using xplorer lite 2. lots of necessary features that makes me wpend less time on file management. Strongly recommended.
Cons: no cons . it has almost all the features that are needed from a file manager.

"Indispensable! 1st util I put on system, I work faster."
Pros: It far surpasses Windows Explorer in overall functionality. Highly customizable to change it to what each user desires. Many advanced uses. Superb HELP PDF file, with detailed instructions. FREE, but supportable by donation (if one wants -- I did).
Cons: Actually not really a CON, but it does require some effort to learn and use its features effectively. Some of its advanced features are only available in its for-pay version. But that's all right; if one really needs them -- pay the little bit extra.

"if you want basic like this stick with windows explorer"
Pros: does have dual panes, barely.
Cons: dual panes are stuck in vertical view. must click on the pane you wish to change before actually using it. makes heavy file work slow and painfull . No move to command, only copy to. Too much clicking to do any actual work.
Summary: If windows explorer stops working, this will suffice till you get it back. I dont like windows explorer, and this is too similar. Not for power users, who want to do alot of work.
