Version: A-squared Free 3.5.0.25
Pros: Huge pattern base - more than 1.6 million malwares known.
Many advanced settings you miss in other free scanners (see custom scan).
Perfect to check your PC for infections.Cons: Resident guard is missing in the free version.
Cleaning could be better.Summary: The malware pattern base is really huge. Far more than any other tool like Ad-Aware or Spybot. a-squared Free ist a great addition to every security setup, but does not include a resident guard to protect the PC from new infections. read more

"Thorough scans but too many other problems."
Pros: Comprehensive data base of definitions.
Cons: Free version cut down too much.
Scans take too long to complete.
Program 30mb.
Uses massive amount of memory during quick or selective scan.
No scan logs with free version.
Hitting 'next' quarantines everything.
Too many false positives.

Pros: It is very effective. Seems that has a VERY big database.
Cons: The scanner is really slow, even the fast scan.

Cons: It's not the fastest scanner around
