The Best

Pros: Easy to use, straightforward interface. Join any room and see other peoples cams without their permission. Excellent chat interface also with file transfer, audio & video chat capability. You can also chat in private with user who agrees. Good security settings. You don't have to have a cam to use Camfrog. Well worth the one-off fee to upgrade to pro version. Then you can open dozens of cams at once and super size the cam windows. Good selection of rooms (including adult).

Cons: Not much. You can't leave offline messages.

Not Bad

Pros: Simpla and straightforward. The results are fine. No frills free converter that is reliable.

Cons: No options to change quality of output files in any way.

Free Download Manager

Brilliant

Pros: Excellent download manager. Really speeds up downloads and stabilises the download at an optimum rate. I use Firefox browser and the download installer is it's only hiccup. The options and settings are not difficult to use. Despite what some others have said this does not install any noticeable spyware - both Spyware doctor and Spysweeper failed to notice anything. Don't waste your money on other managers, just install this.

Cons: Settings take a little time to get used to - also integrates into Bitcomet and a few other p2p programmes but it's not difficult to configure.

SiteAdvisor for Firefox

Version: Beta

Excellent

Pros: Another superb plugin for Firefox to make your browsing experience more secure and pleasurable. Funny thing is it gave this site (Download.com) a yellow pass and not a green one! Still it's not a problem. Automatically blocks threats and warns you of risky sites. What more can you say or ask for?

Cons: None.

Spybot - Search & Destroy

Version: 1.5.2

Very Good

Pros: Same easy to use interface. In my opinion this beats other pay-for programs like Superantispyware because it found stuff I never knew existed on my Vista machine. After running it my internet spped increased noticeably. Cannot praise it highly enough. Excellent immuniser ensures continued protection against known threats.

Cons: Manual update, not automatic, but it's a small point.
