Though not a full-blown anti-adware application, this program handles its one job with aplomb. As you might guess from its name, the main purpose of CWShredder is to purge your PC of the notoriously nasty malware component known as CoolWebSearch. The minimal interface reflects the app's narrow focus, with only a few buttons for scanning your machine and repairing problems. Although we can't get too excited about the nearly nonexistent feature set, we must applaud the performance, as the program found and deleted all remnants of CoolWebSearch we placed on a test machine, in less than 20 seconds. CWShredder obviously won't serve as your main adware solution, but all regular Web surfers and downloaders should keep it on hand. Also, if your machine is already infected with this icky piece of adware, we suggest you download this free app at once.

  "If you are unlucky enough to have CoolWebSearch on your pc.."

  Pros: Your worries will be over once you install CWShredder. That's what it does..destroys CoolWebSearch. Short review, but that's all it does. CWShredder is free!

  Cons: Other spy cleaners on the market will also detect and remove CoolWebSearch...but not all of them are free.

  "Can't tell you how many times I have used this software..."

  Pros: Its free.

  It checks for and will remove a host of different varients of the malicious CoolWebSearch malware.

  Its very easy to operate. Just click a button and it will automatically scan your PC and show you an active log of what its checking for.

  InterMute really improved this by making the active log window scroll while its working, something old versions did not do. And if Im not mistaken you can now output an all important log from the program. Good work InterMute.

  Cons: Yes I know its free, but I just have this feeling that it won't be forever considering that InterMute is a for-profit company.

  I feel that this product ALONE isn't as effect as using it in conjunction with HiJackThis and your favorite antispyware program.

  It does nothing more than remove CWS variants.

  Variant list is never updated and quite limited. I doubt the current definitions cover EVERY variant, unfortunately.

  This is one of those must-have softwares if you are in the business of cleaning adware/spyware/malware from friends' PC's.

  "Fast removal of CoolWebSearch"

  Pros: Removes CoolWebSearch very quickly without needing a full system scan

  If you are infected by CWS then this is the perfect remover for super speed removal

  "A LITTLE CRACKER!"

  Pros: Well where to begin, firstly i was given an old WINDOWS ME pc for my kids to use so i can go on mine without getting asked when could they go on? So after installing AVG ANTIVIRUS 7.5, SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY, AD-AWARE SE it was starting to take shape. I cleaned loads of spyware and trojans out but , mmmm something was nagging me, so i installed this and WHOOOAH! It found traces of nasties that others had missed. The very NASTY COOLWEBSEARCH was indeed on the pc, i ran this and what an improvment it had on the pc, just a fab program all round, top marks!

  "Works quite well."

  Pros: It's free and is more in-depth then the trend micro anti spyware product. The scans are extremly fast and there is NO installation file. It is safe and extremly user friendly.

  Cons: If I had CWS to remove it would get a 5.
