This fast FTP client with SFTP/SSH and SSL/TLS has browser integration, FTP/HTTP/SOCKS proxy, drag and drop, a site manager, a session manager, a queue manager, custom screens, bandwidth control, caching, auto-transfer, retry/resume, auto-reconnect options, auto S/key, remote file-searching, advanced directory listings, start/stop/resume of transfers, chmod. Core FTP Lite is for personal and educational use. Check business and commercial use under the terms of the help file.

Version 2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

• "Core FTP Lite is no lightweight"

Core FTP Lite is a top-notch freeware FTP client, with a wide, uncluttered layout to keep things organized. Easy to use and lacking only the most advanced of features, like multisite connections, Core FTP is a must-have.

Major functions such as Site Manager for maintaining connection information, Quick Reconnect, and mode switching are given big buttons on the toolbar. When you're connected to a site, though, the file-management pane also replicates buttons for most of these functions so you don't have to mouse very far to use the tool you need. The client supports all essential FTP functions, including multiple transfers, secure protocols, configurable ASCII uploading for specified file types, browser integration, and more.

There are few downsides to using this app. There's no scheduler. Some users have noted past stability issues, both in general and when conducting large transfers, but it seems that many older bugs have been worked out. We noticed no problems during our tests and strongly recommend Core FTP Lite.

  "A good product, does what it needs to do."

  Pros: It works without crashes or other glitches. The default settings are usually good enough for more ftp work

  Cons: It's best used by someone who knows and understands the ftp system. Otherwise it needs a better "help" files setup for the novice.

  "Good but with strange options working."

  Cons: Option: "Overwrite if newwer" not work correctly! Didn't work with time by default and didn't work with minutes after setting was changed.

  Some settings in preferences not work or are blocked.

  "Have been using this for uploading to my web site for "yonks""

  Pros: I can upload in about 2 mins. It is free, as is most stuff on my PC !

  Great program. Used "Cute.ftp" up until it was no longer free
