Core FTP LE is now free for business, personal and educational use.

Version 2.1 build 1576 updates SFTP.

• "Core FTP Lite is no lightweight"

Core FTP Lite is a top-notch freeware FTP client, with a wide, uncluttered layout to keep things organized. Easy to use and lacking only the most advanced of features, like multisite connections, Core FTP is a must-have.

Major functions such as Site Manager for maintaining connection information, Quick Reconnect, and mode switching are given big buttons on the toolbar. When you're connected to a site, though, the file-management pane also replicates buttons for most of these functions so you don't have to mouse very far to use the tool you need. The client supports all essential FTP functions, including multiple transfers, secure protocols, configurable ASCII uploading for specified file types, browser integration, and more.

There are few downsides to using this app. There's no scheduler. Some users have noted past stability issues, both in general and when conducting large transfers, but it seems that many older bugs have been worked out. We noticed no problems during our tests and strongly recommend Core FTP Lite.

  Pros: It works, and doesn't mess around when it does the work.

  Cons: Faster would always be better.

  Summary: Easy, quick, simple, what more do you want?

  "first time user of FTP and it was easy and worked"

  Pros: Never have used an FTP before, didn't even know what they were for and within two minutes of installing had first file transferred. What can be better? There might be better ones out there but I love something that works even if I don't understand it

  Cons: Don't have any at this time.

  "Solid Basic ftp"

  Pros: If you want to transfer files up and down via ftp, if you don't want a program that getsin your way, if you're not excited about windows-explorer as an interface and LIKE two-pane FTP clients, this THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT. It's 100% solid and reliable.

  Cons: Slightly out-of-date look and feel.

  Summary: I use it every day.
