Publisher's description of Hollow Ground 1.1
From Aescapia AB:Hollow Ground is a 2D tactical shooter. You, and possibly a friend, watch the action from a top-view perspective, and control two of four mercenaries on their way down through the Epsilon Nine bunker. On the way you will have battle armies of mutated creatures while navigating your way through the labyrinthine tunnels. You will find weapons to aid your quest, and credit chips for use in the shops that appear between levels.
After the first floor, which is always the same, the levels you enter will be selected randomly. Game difficulty increases in two ways. Levels are grouped into layers of difficulty and random selection occurs inside such a layer. Some levels overlap the difficulty layers and can appear at different depths. The general game difficulty also increase as you get deeper down into the bunker, so the depth that you encounter a particular level also influence how tough it is. Difficulty changes both qualitatively and quantitatively during the course of the game. You will need more that a quick trigger finger to beat the lower levels. Most of the maps only appear after you have registered the game!
The aim of the game is to reach the 40th floor, 2000 feet below the surface, and destroy the breeding-machine dwelling there.
