4.0 stars
- "Down to the wire"
From its start as a post-Napster clone to its leading role as the quintessential Gnutella client, LimeWire has been one of the highest-profile P2P applications. The 4.0 series further ups the ante with a combination of new features, an updated interface, and better all-around performance.
On the surface, the refined and zippier Java interface houses some snazzy new icons and a few new features, including a connection-quality meter and a button matrix for zeroing in on specific file types. The search interface now sports a progress bar, and file information--such as artist and album--is more clearly displayed. The improved network performance gave us considerably more search results than previous versions and a more reliable downloading experience (for a P2P client, that is). This latest version also feels more nimble despite its inherently resource-heavy Java-based foundation. We like the What's New feature, which lists files recently added to the network. The check box to filter out adult content also is a nice touch.
The new features and overall functionality make this by far the most mature version of LimeWire to date. Despite the typical performance flaws found in all file-sharing clients, this latest version continues to offer solid performance and good looks across the board.

Version: LimeWire 4.10.9
"Lightning fast searches and downloads"
Pros: This version of LimeWire has TONS of search results, TONS of hosts, and lightning fast downloads. With broadband you can download 50 popular songs in about 10 minutes or less. Some songs take less than 10 seconds! You can also chose which host has the fastest connection to download from. T3 is the fastest, followed by T1, Cable/ DSL, and Modem. LimeWire is also very good at finding Full length feature films, videos, games, and software products. LimeWire Has no ads or popups to distract you. Happy downloading!
Cons: All p2p applications are considered spyware by many antispyware programs,( e-Trust Pest Patrol, Yahoo Antispyware, Spy Cleaner Gold, Trend Micro), etc, so you need to add Limewire to the white list(ignore list) or your spyremovers will uninstall Limewire. Also, stay away from software files under one MB. They all contain viruses.(851.7 KB is a good example).

Version: LimeWire 4.10.9
Pros: I LIKE THE FACT THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF RESULTS , THE SPEED ISN'T LIKE WAREZ OR ARES, BUT STILL GOOD. I RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT!, I'M LOOKING FOR A BETTER PROGRAM THAN LIMEWIRE BUT CAN'T QUITE FIND IT. DOESN'T HAVE ANY 3rd PARTY PROGRAMS INSTALLED WITH IT.
Cons: YOU CAN ONLY DOWNLOAD FROM MAXIMUM 8 HOSTS, I GOT MY "BLACK WORM VIRUS" FROM DOWNLOADING .ZIP FILES, SOMETIMES IT DOESNT CONNECT AT ALL, FOR THE CONNECTION I'LL RATE 3 STARS. TOO MUCH WRONG FILE NAMES. DON'T DOWNLOAD FILES THAT ARE FROM 100.0 KB - 714.9 KB; THOSE WILL HARM YOUR COMPUTER.

Version: LimeWire 4.10.9
Pros: The menus, the search results, options. I like the fact that you can kill uploads and preview what your downloading. It's tweaked up enough to give you the best searches.
Cons: It's not Limewire's fault but it's annoying how you think your downloading something that's not what it really is.

Version: LimeWire 4.10.9
Pros: Decent search results, downloads seem fairly quick.
Cons: My computer was infected with adware/spyware from this program, but to be fair, I wasn't fully protected (just had Norton Antivirus at that time). It wreaked havoc on my world until I finally had to do a system restore. Since downloading Ad-aware, Spybot, Spyware Blaster and Registry Mechanic, I haven't had any major problems using this program, but I always scan my system after using Limewire and my spyware programs always catch new things that weren't there before use. Still hoping that something more secure comes along.

"It'll find the searches u want"
Pros: It will find a lot of the searches you want. Free.
Cons: The nag screen is very annoying. Even though the program itself is not spyware or a virus, it is very prone to them.
