Publisher's description of Norton Internet Security
From Symantec:Norton Internet Security 2009 protects against all types of online threats. It safeguards your computer, identity, and home network without slowing you down. Completely reengineered for faster, fewer scans and rapid updates, it makes online shopping, banking, and browsing safer and more convenient.
The Norton Protection System is a multilayered system of technologies that work in concert to stop threats before they impact you. Relying on the intelligence-driven Norton Insight technology, it targets only those files at risk, resulting in shorter and fewer scans. Browser protection safeguards you from Web-based attacks. And pulse updates every 5 to 15 minutes deliver the latest updates fast. Version 2009 improves on product performance.

Editor's review of Norton Internet Security
5.0 stars
- "Great trial with some uninstall snags"
Symantec has been listening to its users, and this year the company delivers a slimmed-down and faster Norton Internet Security 2009. The suite of tools packs in the kinds of features people want most in an Internet security suite including some forward-looking technology.
Almost all the security vendors this year have recognized the changing threat landscape and have rethought traditional protection. Norton AntiVirus 2009 is available as a full-function download, free for 15 days. We especially like the Insight feature, which identifies "trusted" files and applications and doesn't waste time rescanning and rescanning them unless there's been a change. No other product does this. The redesigned logic behind Norton Internet Security clearly shows in CNET performance testing: it is faster and considerably lighter than last year's version, and even some standalone 2009 antivirus applications. And Norton continues to win awards in third-party effectiveness testing.
Lagging behind, though, is Symantec's technical support. While Norton users now have free telephone support, Symantec still doesn't provide enough of a knowledgebase, or even an adequate user's manual. Once again, this year it emphasizes its premium services a bit too much. That said, Norton Internet Security 2009 presents a remarkable transformation of a product and is worth a second look.

Version: Norton Internet Security 2009
"Improved yet one major fault remains."
Pros: Improved yet one major fault remains. So much of the good things I've read about it are true but it still has one big issue that I can't overlook.
Cons: Looks great & scans fast but it has an unforgivable number of false positives.
Summary: I have an ESET Smart Security license good through 5-2010. Needing a reformat of my Vista Ultimate system anyway, I had a look at this 2009 version of Norton. Onb a clean machine with a corrupt, unrepairable driver, I removes my ESET. Installed this... read more >>

Version: Norton Internet Security 2009
"You can't rate this 5 stars because it's pretty!"
Pros: Or can you? I think not! Looks pretty, probably the best GUI of all 2009 suites. However it's still one hell of an uninstall!
Cons: Removal tool still won't get rid of it entirely. Took me a regitry cleaning wih the new WinASO & a reg edit! What the hell, Norton? Like Charles sais, way to many false positives.
Summary: With the removal still next to impossible, & the false positives, I can't recommend it. Unless you have every intention of keeping this installed, "DO NOT USE THE 15 DAY FREE TRIAL"........ If your not skilled enough to use reg. edit it will con... read more >>
