SmartFTP allows you to transfer files across the Internet. It features an Explorer-like, customizable interface and supports drag-and-drop functions. Multiple FTP connections can be opened at the same time, and you can copy files from one remote host to another (FXP). Remote-host directory information is cached for future viewing, and FTP URLs are supported. Other features include a Favorites list; the ability to resume broken downloads; a global history; background transfers; proxy support; a passive transfer mode; and the ability to perform recursive downloads, uploads, and deletes.

Version 2.5.1006.48 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, and bug fixes.

• "Nothing dumb about SmartFTP"

This powerhouse FTP client takes some getting used to, but you'll be glad you gave it a chance. Don't be alarmed by the cramped, multipane Windows Explorer-like interface; you can customize the toolbars and windowpanes however you like.

With the Local Browser window visible, SmartFTP supports drag-and-drop transfers like those on basic FTP clients. But its real power lies deeper within its option menus, where you'll find CHMOD remote file-attribute modification, background file transfers, multiple FTP connections, passive-mode transfers, site-to-site transfers (FXP), and connections via proxy or SSL. Using the Global Queue window, you even can schedule downloads or uploads to more than one server.

SmartFTP may overwhelm beginners, but it's a natural for intermediates and up.

  "Couldn't be easier to use....and it's secure and portable."

  Pros: Portability makes my data secure everywhere. Now I can use long strings for log0ons and/or passwords, change them from program to program and maintain incrredible security throughout all functions. WOW!

  Cons: Doesn't let you directly transfer the contents of a zip file to it, you have to unzip first.

  "Well integrated to Windows Environment"

  Pros: Remember the old FTP programs where you had to know the commands veribage and type, type, type, type, type. Well SmartFTP is an drop and drag integrated ftp program of today that works like windows works. It remembers your connections with no fuss and you always know where you are at. There are other similar FTP programs but I have found SmartFTP to be the most stable and solid of those I have used. I recommend it.

  Cons: Some area Font size is too small

  "Outstanding Product that is easy to use. User Friendly!"

  Pros: It is an outstanding user friendly product. I recommend the Smart FTP Client 32-bit application software to anyone that requires an FTP prodjuct. I wil be recommending it to anyone that I talk to. As time permits I plan to evaluate it further. Keep up the grate job. Give my commplements to your programers.

  Cons: There was nothing regarding the functionality of the application software that I disliked. However not having a User Manual to review or have a CD of application software to use as a back up if or when my computer develops problems.
