- "Play by yourself"
This top-rated trial for one of the most popular solitaire programs around continues to improve. The 2008 version of SolSuite Solitaire adds another two original games, bringing the grand total to 484...for now. Expect to see even more new games in later releases. The excellent trial offers a free month of play (with three shuffles per game), and big solitaire fans will likely register before the 30 days are up.
The helpful interface lets you browse games grouped by type, time, difficulty, and skill level, or you can have the program choose a variation at random. SolSuite provides a glance at each game's rules, a difficulty rating, and a layout. Players can choose between different card sets and backgrounds, and they can even create their own solitaire games using the Rules Wizard.
Strategies, tips, and hints help beginners, and adepts will enjoy the robust statistics including graphs, 3D charts, tables, logs, and online high scores. You can always undo your moves and return to a good position. The suite supports multiple players, which is perfect for families and tournaments. A longtime editor and user favorite on CNET Download.com, SolSuite looks likely to further satisfy our solitaire cravings in 2008.

"Updating constantly is EXPENSIVE! Too bad, because..."
Pros: I love, love, LOVE all these great games, but.......
Cons: ..... with everyone in financial trouble, it's no longer feasible to pay every single time there's another update. It just really isn't fair. SolSuite Solitaire should been one of the ways we get AWAY from our worries, not be an an additional one.
Summary: The games are so much fun, and especially as our brains get older, it's wonderful to be able to find such mind-stimulation. HOWEVER, I'm so very upset, now, to realize that every single update is now costing me ADDITIONAL money to my original yearl... read more >>

Version: SolSuite Solitaire 2008 8.9
"Great program with far more games than I will ever use."
Pros: I pay annually for the upgrade and throughout the year any further upgrades are provided free along with any activation code changes necessary. If I lose a code I send in the requested info and they send it to me within a few hours.
Cons: I wish they would make it easier to get the graphic upgrades without hiding them.
Summary: I have used Solsuite for several years and find it very challenging. I don't know how it is designed, but it seems it has a memory for what you do, because it appears to get harder to win some games as the years have passed. I do wish they would inc... read more >>
