Zipsearch finds files, search ZIP archives, locate text, view files, display search strings, match text. Use files extensions, replace text in ZIP archives. It searches subfolders & uses dates size, text, case sensitive, search 90 multiple search strings at once. The program can load and save search parameters, print search results, show paths for extracting files & view occurences of matching strings inside files. You can explore ZIP files, search 19 compressed archive types, and replace text within ZIP archives.

Version 1.2.5 features ability to search word documents and excel workbooks within zip archives. Search self extracting Zip archives (*.EXE) and Java class files (*.JAR).

Zipsearch quickly finds specific files in archives, but the cumbersome interface complicates learning this application's features. Zipsearch's cluttered interface offers few clues on where and how to start. Those with the willingness to read the manual and test the program will get past the horrid interface though. We found the many search options complicated at first, but they make searches much more precise and rewarding. Searching for strings inside archived files turned out to be one of the most useful features of this application. All searches were quick and always found our test files. The ability to search and replace text within archives turned out to be a very useful and speedy feature. In addition to searching archives, this utility can search some Microsoft Word and Excel versions. A more professional interface would help the learning curve for all user levels, but we found this archive search utility powerful, quick, and accurate.

"Doesn't work"

Pros: Haven't found any...

Cons: Other than the fact that it is ugly, the program didn't do what I asked of it: I wanted it to search in a SPECIFIC directory, and it kept searching in that directory's parent drive. Download this only if you are colorblind and that you have whole drives to search.

Cons: I could not find a certain text that I knew existed within a zip file.
