Editor's review

The underground battle circuit may be the hard route to rap fame, but there are benefits to paying your dues. They're evident in the new material from this Miami/NYC MC. Jin's rhymes bristle with the kind of reference trips and verbal acrobatics that distinguish those who've had seasoning in the minor leagues.

Biography

Jin's life reads like something out of the pages of a hip-hop storybook -a young, hungry emcee leaves his hometown of Miami in search of big dreams in the Big Apple. He makes the rounds on the underground battle circuit, working steadily to achieve his goal. He takes a risk and enters the battle to end all battles, putting his reputation and career on the line. Seven BET Freestyle Friday victories, over one million internet downloads and several major features in magazines like the Source, Entertainment Weekly, Trace and XXLlater, the dream is realized and the story is one of success. But what does the next chapter in the Jin saga have in store? The answer is simple, evolution. After releasing his debut album, "The Rest Is History" on Ruff Ryders/Virgin records in October of 2004, Jin went into the studio and recorded the aptly titled "I Quit." In the song, Jin rhymes about his disgust with the state of the music industry and contemplates throwing in the towel. The hip-hop world whipped itself into a frenzy, worried that their shining star would no longer light the sonic sky. This wasn't the end of the tale, however it's only the beginning. Exit Jin. Enter The Emcee. Jin's latest offering, Emcee's Propaganda, is new ground for the artist. The album presents an older, more mature Jin, with a better understanding of life and the industry. The fact that Jin cites "Foolish Little Girl" as his favorite cut, shows a thoughtfulness often missing from hip-hop. Says the Emcee "The song is a new step for me. It's dedicated to women, your mother, your sister, your aunt or your grandmother. It's the typical song you hear about females on the radio." "Emcee's Propaganda" is being released on Draft Records/Crafty Plugz Entertainment and is slated for release at the end of Fall 2005. With a new outlook, a new label and a new persona, one can only imagine the places Jin will go. Stay tuned for the rest of the story.
